Make Your Advertising Work
Advertising Copy
In this bulletin we look at advertising copy; what it is and how
to make it more effective. I know that very few Easy-Earn affiliates
are experienced at copywriting and I'm sure the same applies to
our many other readers, but you should try to learn the most basic
skills. To this end, there are examples included on this page that
you can edit or adapt for use in your own campaigns.
Please understand that this is not a comprehensive treatise on
the subject of advertising; plenty more can easily be found on
the Internet and we include links to useful websites from time
to time, here and in the Free Ad Tips bulletins.
The keys to success are experimentation and testing so, once you
understand the basics, you can apply them with variations in wording,
especially headlines, to see what works best for you.
Once you've correctly applied the basics, it's a numbers game.
In the case of Easy-Earn, you are offering one of the most attractive and valuable package
deals ever made available online. Don't expect an almighty clamor
to result from your offer though. There is an undercurrent of mistrust
and, with good reason, a great deal of caution about buying on
the Internet. For most marketers, a 1% response rate is considered
a terrific result. That would mean, for Easy-Earn, one person out
of every hundred who viewed your ad would go to your sales page.
So you've really got to get your message out to as many people
as you can to make the system work. The secret, if there is one,
is to keep at it.
Before Advertising
First off, a little advice about a subject that isn't strictly
advertising, as such; i.e. getting in touch with your own contacts.
You probably invested in Easy-Earn because you could see that,
as well as having amazing potential, there was no way that you
could really lose. The software and the ebooks are worth many times
what you paid for the complete package and there are so many diverse
areas covered that everyone should find something useful
in it somewhere. Useful enough, in fact, to make it one of the
best investments you ever made. And that's just one aspect of the
program. There are many more, as you know.
That being said, why be embarrassed about putting the word out
among friends? You'll be doing them a favor and once they see the
incredible possibilities, they'll understand and want to tell their friends.
So do take seriously the opportunity you have to tell everyone
you know about this program. Mention it in your emails, in your
letters, in your phone calls and in your conversation. Be enthusiastic
but low key. Say something like: "Hi Fred, Jim here. I thought
this might interest you." And give them the URL of your Easy-Earn
sales page. Some people have found that this is all they
had to do!
Advertising Basics
Keywords
It's a good idea to keep
a list of relevant key words and phrases to refer to when considering
your ad copy. It helps keep your eye on the ball and to stay focused
when creating new copy and headlines. Try to incorporate some of
the phrases in your advertising copy, if you can. Here are some
some of the most appropriate ones for Easy-Earn (add more if you
think of any) but the gist should be useful to any reader of Free
Ad Tips:
- affiliate marketing
- build mailing list
- business opportunit
- create website
- Internet marketing
- manage website
- promote website
- resale rights
- secure website
- software resources

Headlines
The most
important part of any advertisement is the headline. In
the case of one-line ads, that's all they consist of. Headlines attract
attention. Only then can you even hope to get readers for
your main message or webpage. Here are a few examples:
- Thousands Will PAY To Join Your Mailing List
- At Last! A Real Opportunity That Pays - Big!
- Prospects Are Signing Up In Droves!

Never lose sight of your main objective when advertising, which
should be to guide, persuade and cajole your prospects into visiting
your sales page. Nothing more, nothing less.
Text Advertising
There are a number of different types of media where plain text
is appropriate but advertising copy has to operate within parameters
peculiar to that media, as outlined below. Here are some samples
(before removal and/or disguise of spam triggers) you might want
to base yours on:

that's been tested and proved to work, yet is cheap (less
than $7!) and easy to do.
ANYONE can succeed at it
and EVERYONE can afford this very profitable online business
that uses a really powerful viral marketing system.
Yes, the total cost of your
investment is a once-only
payment of less than $10. For this tiny sum you get a massive
portfolio of quality products (worth many times that amount),
full resale rights to every item, a readymade professional
sales page for each, full instructions on how and where to
profit from them, ongoing help and advice, PLUS a mind-blowing
yet simple system that will build you a huge mailing list of
hot prospects AND generate an ongoing substantial income such
as you could only dream about.
For only $10.00 you get
everything you need to make thousands of dollars, the easiest

are, and so you should be! But
you're not being asked to just cross your fingers and trust
me. After all, you don't even know me.
Just read this page: http://www.easy-earn.biz/index.html
Everything is explained
there. Do the math for yourself and if you can think of one
rational reason why this won't work, then by all means give
it a miss. However, if you can't, then for the sake of only
$10.00 (and all you get for it) don't you think you owe it
to yourself to at least give it a try? Of course you do!
And I can promise you this: you'll be glad you did.

Email Signatures
Long accepted as a legitimate
way of promulgating business information or broadcasting the email
sender's business details, email signatures need to operate within
established restrictions. Obviously, it doesn't matter in the case
of private mail but, when posting to mailing lists or newsgroups,
or any similar media, it is essential to stay within the restrictions
or risk being castigated, perhaps even banned. Even though posting
to web-based forums cannot be classified as email, the same restrictions
apply. To be on the safe side, we recommend keeping signatures
within four lines of sixty characters (maximum), or even better,
three lines. Here is an example:

The EASIEST and QUICKEST way to make money on the 'net.

Classifieds and
FFA Sites
FFA stands for Free For All, the term used to describe
sites that accept one line ads on a 'first come, first served'
basis. They're problematic in that the ads quickly get pushed down,
and eventually, off the page in a very short period of time. Besides,
nobody reads them due to the sheer numbers of such sites and the
preponderance of 'mass submitters'. It is even rumored that some
search engines treat FFAs as 'spam linking' and actually penalize
sites that include them by lowering their ranking. This needs to
be considered if you intend to try optimizing your site for search
engine listings.
Classified advertising is another matter though. Most allow more
than one line per ad, all are divided and classified into 'categories',
and a lot of them allow you to specify the time period you prefer,
sometimes up to a month. Best of all though, is owning your
own classifieds page. As owner, you get the right to respond to
every submission with a return email and/or accept ads by responding
with a 'Thank You' page. This is covered elsewhere in Free Ad
Tips as a very important project in its own right. Look for
it under the heading 'The FAT System'.
Ezine Ads
The restrictions here all
depend on the ezine owner. Some require ads to be preformatted
to a certain line length, most restrict the number of lines allowed
etc. With the problem of spam filters, another perspective has
come into play: avoiding and/or disguising known spam triggers.
No ezine owner wants any copies of his ezine dumped because of
an ad. Words like 'money' and 'opportunity', phrases like 'home
business', overuse of exclamation marks; all these and many more
are spam triggers and are not allowed by most ezine owners.
Email Advertising
The main thing that differentiates email advertising from other
forms of promotion is the length of the text allowed. Whether it's
safelists, which normally accept anything from a hundred words
up to 10,000 characters, or solo ads, which are often a bit more
restrictive, we are nevertheless talking about a whole page. Remember
also that, since these ads are sent using email, you need to try
to avoid spam traps by modifying any likely 'trigger' words or
phrases.
Solo Ads
These are emails sent individually to members of large opt-in
lists, such as ezine subscribers, safelists, traffic exchange members
etc. They are usually sent by the list owner on the advertisers
behalf and they nearly always charge a premium rate, since what
they are doing, in effect, is temporarily transferring their right
to communicate with their own list members to a third party, in
return for cash. They can be very effective but, by the same token,
they can be very expensive.
Safelists
These are similar to solo ads except that emails are sent to list
members in return for the senders of the emails, who are list members
themselves, agreeing to read all emails sent to them. This can
result in each member receiving hundreds, or even thousands of
emails a day. There are many opinions about the effectiveness or
otherwise of safelists but the most obvious flaw is that, the larger
the list, the more likely that nearly all posts will be deleted
without getting read, whereas the smaller it is, the fewer prospects
there are to read them anyway.
With all ads the headline should be paramount, but with
safelists, they are vital. Two tips that might help here are:
-
Make your headline (email Subject) stand out by indenting
it with 2 or 3 dashes, underlines, etc.
-
If emails can be personalized (as they can with many safelists),
use the First Name tag (the tags vary with each list)
in the Subject field, which is where you put the headline.
Graphic Advertising
Whenever the opportunity arises to use pictures in your advertising, stop
and think before jumping right in. Sometimes they are more
trouble than they're worth. Probably the commonest problem is
the bottleneck they sometimes cause when downloading. Any delay
that prevents your message from loading instantly should be avoided
like the plague. On the other hand, if they draw attention without causing
problems, they should definitely be considered. The use of color
doesn't normally cause any problems.
Email Ads
If you are given the option of including HTML in your emails,
it means you can include graphics, color, hidden links etc just
as in web pages. Unfortunately, that does not necessarily
mean it's a good idea. Apart from the problem of delays mentioned
above, another consideration is that many anti-spam programs rate
the use of HTML with a high loading and are therefore more likely
to reject such messages. Also, especially with safelists, HTML
is sometimes rendered incorrectly with the result that those messages
appear as a jumble of letters and tags. Last but not least is the
fact that HTML can be used to hide viruses, with the result that
many people delete them as a safety measure without ever opening
them.
Banner Ads
As with all advertising, your objective should be to persuade
your prospect to click a link that takes him/her to your Easy-Earn
sales page. The same applies with banner ads. Encouraging them
to click the banner is the most important thing. Standard banner
ads measure 468 x 60 pixels, which should be specified in your
coding, but there are now many more sizes that are acceptable.
Conclusion
The next bulletin will be #3 in the series and should arrive in
your inbox tomorrow. Please look out for Free Ad Tips, which
always appears in the Subject line.
