Getting Your Own Website
Why You Need One
Many of the advertising and publicity methods that are covered
in these bulletins can be used successfully without having
a website of your own. You simply need a PC and something to advertise,
like your Easy-Earn referral URL, or come to that, any affiliate
link.
To get the most out of a lot of promotional opportunities you'll
come across though, you really do need your own website. If you
already have one, as most readers of these bulletins probably do,
you may decide to ignore the information presented in this bulletin
and wait for the next one, which is due in a couple of days. However,
if you're a newbie to the Internet, or if you're just someone who
wants to know how to set one up, what follows are a few ideas that
might prove helpful.
A website of your own, meaning one where you have editorial control
and can add and remove pages at will, allows you to do so much
more than you can do if you don't have one. It gives you another
URL (in addition to your affiliate link page) that you can
use to promote Easy-Earn (or any other affiliate program or site).
It's particularly good for promotions like using surf exchanges
or anywhere you can use a fast-loading graphics page to advantage. A
somewhat different page to that which everyone else is using can
sometimes put you ahead of the game. And it also gives you somewhere
to 'house' your banners for banner exchanges and various advertisements
for other such programs so that you can specify a URL (the 'web
address' where they reside) when joining them.
We provide some powerful pre-written HTML advertisements
for Easy-Earn that come complete with your affiliate
ID built in, as well as a tracking code so that you can see
how many impressions (views), clicks (taking people to your referral
page) and sales result from that particular ad. These can be found

but you need your own website to put them on. Click the following

Choosing A Hosting Service
Luckily, there are lots of hosting services available on the Internet,
including many that are free, and some of which are described in
our Recommended Links section (see the menu bar at the bottom
of this page). However, for those that don't have time to study
all the options or, more particularly, for newbies who are unsure
of what to look for, here are some considerations:
- When paying for a service, you often get the option of using
their domain name or your own. Avoid those that insist
you buy a domain name from them; you will find it restrictive
and often more expensive in the long run.
- Many free hosting services will automatically add their advertising
banners to your site. This is the 'price' you pay; after all,
they have to earn their keep too.
- Be sure that you get 'downloads' and 'traffic' allocations
large enough to cope with future growth as well as the volumes
that can reasonably be expected now.
- Restrict sites to those that allow 'scripts' to be run, particularly
CGI and Javascript, in case you decide to do something more
ambitious, like setting up a FAT system.
Two Free Web Hosting Services
The links above point to two sites that we can recommend.* GigaHive
is an excellent free web hosting service that's easy to use, even
for complete newbies. Signing on is painless as they only require
the most basic details. This is followed by a simple email confirming
your application and re-affirming your access details, so the total
time from first arrival to starting on your first page is no more
than ten minutes. The other one is AwardSpace, which is even better
because it is ad free and includes more options.
Joining And Placing An Ad
We have put together step-by-step guides for joining and using
either or both of these hosting services. It should be invaluable
for newbies and even experienced people might find it a time saver.

Conclusion
We shall often reiterate the advantages of having your own website
in these bulletins and, over time, will point out many uses for
it. If, for example, you want a lot of quality visitors but with
a minimum of ongoing maintenance, you should spend a little time
setting up a FAT system (see link below). In case you haven't realized
