Free Ad Tips
Free Ad Tips bulletins are published for bona fide subscribers who
can opt out (i.e. unsubscribe) at any time and for any reason. They
are sponsored by Easy-Earn: The Quickest And Easiest Way To Make
Money On The Internet—Legally! (to find out more, click the logo
at the head of this page). They are written primarily for Easy-Earn
affiliates, though the tips and advice they contain can be applied
to any online product or service. If you ever want to stop getting
them, please follow the instructions in the email that directed you
to this edition. We are always sorry to lose a subscriber but under
no circumstances will your email address ever be sold or made available
to any third party.
Two Free Site Setup Examples
Joining The AWARDSPACE Site
A step-by-step guide to joining AwardSpace and setting up your
Home Page.
- Go to http://www.awardspace.com/ to
enroll (you can join 1 or 2 earning programs there too, if you
want).
- On completion of signing up, check your email for your logon
details.
- Go to the Control Panel at http://www.awardspace.com/members.html and
log on.
- Click the Website Manager tab under the Awardspace header
logo.
- Click Subdomain Manager and fill in the name you want
to use for your free website (yoursite.awardspace.com) or use
your own registered domain name(s) if you have one.
- When you first give your website a name it will take a while
before you are able to see it, especially if you are transferring
a domain name (up to 48 hours) to the Awardspace servers.
- Type http://yoursite.awardspace.com/ (replace yoursite with
the name of your site, of course) into your browser's
address bar (in a blank tab) until it shows the default page (note:
do not include 'www'). It will have a message saying you have
not yet uploaded your index.html file. This is to test that the
site is now working.
- Create a New file in Notepad (or your favorite
text editor). If you're not familiar with HTML, Copy & Paste the
following code into it for now (replace 'Your Site Name' with your
own site name):
<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD
XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd">
<html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml">
<head>
<title>Home Page</title>
<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html;
charset=ISO-8859-1"
/>
</head>
<body>
<div align="center">
<h1>Your Site Name</h1>
</div>
<p>This will be the Home Page of the Your Site Name website.</p>
</body>
</html>
Save and name it 'index.html'.
- In the AwardSpace Control Panel, click on File Manager and
navigate to your 'root' directory at /home/www/net-info.awardspace.com.
Then, using the File Upload facility near the bottom of
the page, navigate on your computer to the file you just named
and click Upload File(s).
- That's it! Now you should be able to enter the same URL in a
blank tab as previously on your browser (http://yoursite.awardspace.com/)
and it should bring up your temporary Home Page. Now you've
managed that you should be able to figure out how to upload any
file by using the same system or the Create File / Folder,
which is below the File Upload feature.
The great thing about AwardSpace is that it is full-featured hosting
for free with no ads! Or you can get even more for
a very small monthly charge indeed. Click the following link to see
an example that we put up on our free AwardSpace site. It displays
one of the HTML ads available to Easy-Earn affiliates that
enables tracking of impressions (views), clicks (leading to the affiliate's
Easy-Earn referral page) and sales.
Joining The GigaHive Site
A step-by-step guide to joining GigaHive and setting up a FAT
system Hit Page.
- Go to GigaHive at http://www.gigahive.com/admin/register.php
to join.
- Under Website Category choose Business from the
drop-down box.
- Name your site (e.g. Joe's Traffic Site) but leave the Website
Footer field blank.
- Scroll to the far right of the Website Template section
and click the Select Template button under 'HTML ONLY'.
- Complete the Personal Information and Address Information fields
that are marked with a star.
- Choose a short and simple Username because
it is used to identify your site in the URL.
- Click Submit Registration to finish the signup procedure.
- Download your email, open the confirmation message from GigaHive and
check your Login details.
- Log in, click Page Content Editor and in Website Pages (under Options)
click the 'scratchpad' (edit) icon.
- Click the '<>' icon at the far right of the Page
Text toolbar (a pop-up caption says 'Toggle HTML Source').
- In Text Mode, delete any text in the box and paste in
the code that the Hit Page Wizard produced for you.
- Click the 'Toggle HTML Source' icon again and the Hit
Page should display exactly the same as it did in your browser.
- If it doesn't display properly, you probably didn't delete all
the wording that was there or you didn't copy all the code correctly,
in which case you need to go back and do it again.
- When it displays correctly, click Submit, then click Site
Preview to view your new Hit Page.
- With the page in view, click in the Address Bar at the
top of your browser and copy the URL (it should be something like
this: http://www.gigahive.com/sites/yourusername/fat0.html).
Not sure whether this one allows scripts to be run or how to set
them up if it does but it's excellent in many other ways. Click the
following link to see an example that we put up on our free GigaHive
site. It shows another of the HTML ads available to Easy-Earn
affiliates that enables tracking of impressions (views), clicks (leading
to the affiliate's Easy-Earn referral page) and sales. As you can
see, GigaHive put a tiny advertising bar at the bottom of the page.
